Threod Systems took part in the Ämari air show 2019. The show also marked the 100th anniversary of the Estonian Air Force’s foundation. Quadcopter Titan performed a demonstration flight among 30 other aircrafts presented at the show.
Threods’ demo flight
Threod Systems’ quadcopter Titan equipped with Shark gimbal and a cargo drop payload performed a demonstration flight at the show. The demo was a part of the official Ämari air show program. In front of a wide audience Titan was quickly prepared for the mission, took-off and performed cargo delivery and drop at the given location. The cargo drop payload has a major potential. The applications wary from last mile support in military operations, to medicine or blood delivery in disaster relief or even common post deliveries in cities.
Drone footage live stream
The video form the drone streamed live in Threod Systems Youtube channel. The Shark gimbal footage was live on a big screen. The audience at the show or any location in the world could access the video. This solution is very convenient for improving situational awareness in search and rescue missions. Besides, facilitating law enforcement operations by providing overview of a location to as many users as possible. Moreover, better interaction with clients and involved parties not being physically anywhere close to the location.
The UAS
Moreover, multiple Threods’ Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and subsystems were displayed at the show. The Stream C complete Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) solution with launching systems and ground data terminal that enables 150km Line of Sight (LOS) communication. Stream C Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) UAV configuration was also presented. As well as, Threods’ flagman UAV: the light and modular Eos in VTOL configuration. The modern trend in fixed-wing UAV development is going vertical. Threod has implemented the VTOL technology in all fixed-wing UAVs in order to offer customers better mobility and enable mission in difficult terrain environment.
The Air Show
This year the United States Air Force Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, popularly known as a “stealth fighter” performed flights at the Ämari air show. As well as, other planes both from Estonia and elsewhere. Including those from Polish aerobatics team Orlik and noted Estonian pilot Jüri Kaljundi in his Pitts Special S-2A biplane. A Royal Danish Air Force (Flyvevåbnet) F-16 Fighting Falcon. Furthermore, NATO Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) plane. An AgustaWestland Apache attack helicopter, from Britain’s Army Air Corps (AAC). Not to mention many other air vehicles displayed to almost 20 thousand visitors. (ERR)
US Air Force chief visit
Moreover, the United States Air Force (USAF) Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein visited Estonia. During the visit he had a meeting with Estonian defence leaders and attended the Ämari air show 2019. (ERR)
Ämari Air Base
The Ämari Air Base is one of the two tactical military units of the Estonian Defence Forces under the command of the Commander of the Estonian Air Force. With the main tasks of airbase operations and organisation of aviation activities in the Estonian Defence Forces.
